The fight card for the BKFC Fight Night Miami features nine total matches with Howard Davis (5-2-1) and Sean Wilson (3-1-0) in the main event in lightweight. The card also features a co-main event in women’s flyweight between Rosalinda Rodriguez (1-0-0) and Monica Franco (1-0-0).
Those two fights in the main event and co-main event will give all four fighters the opportunity to become serious contenders in their weight classes to eventually fight for the championship in their weight classes. The rest of the card fills in around the main events to make this one of the best cards in boxing this year.
Heading into this main event, Davis is coming off a loss last year against Kai Stewart. He is looking to get back on track against Wilson, who won his last match against Brandon Meyer after his first loss.
The rest of the card features two light heavyweight bouts with Markus Suarez (0-1-0) vs. Marcus Williamson (0-0-0) and Eduardo Concepcion (1-1-0) vs. Alvin Davis (0-0-0), Joshua Alvarez (4-3-0) vs. Meyer (1-1-0) in welterweight and Perez (0-0-0) vs. Moegenburg (0-0-0) in cruiserweight.
There are two lightweight bouts between Rohan Prado (0-0-0) vs. Raymond Pell (1-0-0) and Reid (0-1-0) vs. Pulgar (0-0-0) with one bantamweight bout between Labon (1-0-0) vs. Bargallo (0-0-0) to round out the card. Those seven bouts set the stage for the main event matches in what could be the best card of the first half of the year here in 2024 in the BKFC.
I’m not high on Jackson so Concepcion will be the pick. Both guys aren’t great, and they both just lost to the same guy (Doug Coltrane), but when looking at the fights, Concepcion took Coltrane the distance and was at least competitive despite the fact he got beat up in the fight. Jackson didn’t seem like he had any offense to mount, and his defense was non-existent.
Neither of these guys have fought in a while, and this fight could be wild at the beginning if one of them tries to land the early KO, but I’m not sure Jackson has what it takes to get the KO, and if he doesn’t get the KO early I see Concepcion pulling away.
This is a rematch where the favorite lost the first match because of a doctor’s stoppage, and the fight was very close, but Nolan was pushing the pressure a bit more and was not afraid to eat shots from Suarez to get inside and land his own shots.
Both guys got cut, but give Nolan credit as he did more damage and got the win. Now, if you would see what these guys look like with their shirts off, you would make Suarez a -500 favorite as he’s chisled, taller and looks like a boxer while Nolan looks like someone that frequents happy hours.
In fact, Nolan is 1-7 in his boxing career with his last fight being his only win, but Suarez is now 0-3 in his career and I think a sprinkle on the underdog is worth it as I don’t think Nolan’s skills match his physique. I’ll take Nolan to make it 2-0 against Suarez.
Jim Pulgar has no business being in this fight, he’s going to get smoked. He has two exhibition fights, and he looks awful. Slow punches, bad footwork, and he’s lost both those exhibition fights to terrible fighters.
He’s fighting Wayna Reid who is 0-1 in BKFC, but his loss is to Tony Soto who is 2-0 as a boxer, and he’s 6-0 in BKFC, and Reid took him to the 4th round where the fight was stopped because Soto landed a great punch to the eye that make Reid’s eye swell shut, but Reid looked pretty good and I can’t emphasize enough how big of a step down in competition this is.
In the main event, Howard Davis and Sean Wilson will go head-to-head in a lightweight showdown. Davis, the former featherweight title challenger, will look to bounce back from his recent defeat and return to winning form.
Wilson, who hails from Omaha, Nebraska, will hope to secure his second consecutive victory after a successful outing in his previous bout.
